GB Cliff Hanger Märzen is brewed to an auburn hue using dark roasted, caramelized, Munich malt. The malted barley unveils a caramel malt aftertaste, creating an exceptionally smooth finish.
Before we had refrigerators, it was really tough to brew beer in summertime, so most brewing stopped during the Spring and started again in the Fall with the majority of it being made in March, or in German: Marzen. That beer would be consumed during the summer months and by the time Fall came around, what was left was finished off around October, i.e. Oktoberfest. They are commonly deep amber in color, rich, toasty and malty. Now you can certainly find Oktoberfests that are pale in color and more malty.
